Personal Approach
From an early age I felt concern for individuals in distress, and as an adult this drew me to working as a Volunteer for the Brigitte Trust offering emotional and practical help in families where a member was terminally ill, often from cancer. Later, the desire to work professionally, in greater depth and with more understanding led me to train as a psychodynamic counsellor, and finally to undertake psychotherapy training. I discovered for myself that the difficulties we have in our lives and in relationships are often unknowingly connected with earlier experiences. Linking up the past with the present within a therapeutic relationship brings about understanding, greater self acceptance and enables change.
Areas of counselling I deal with:-
Abuse, addiction, anxiety, bereavement, child related issues, depression, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, life threatening illness such as cancer, difficulties with relationships, sexuality, stress, trauma, work related issues.
I am also interested in spirituality and the search for meaning or a sense of identity.
